Serving Orléans and Ottawa, our hardwood restoration
and repair will transform and modernize your floors.
Family Operated. Family Oriented.
Our expertise originates from New-Brunswick. Our founder, Jean-Bernard, has over 42 years of hardwood floor experience. Valuing sustainability, we have specialized in all facets of hardwood restoration and tailor our service to fit any situation.
We take pride in customer service, value quality workmanship, and strive to maintain a low carbon footprint. Not only will restoring hardwood make your floors look new, but it will also save space in landfills and prevent cutting of additional trees.
Serving Orléans and neighboring communities, our friendly and bilingual staff are happy to meet your needs. With price for value unmatched, you will be happy you chose the Hardwood Restoration Brothers.
We have industrial grade sanders to bring the wood to a smooth, clean finish. We then apply four coats of polyurethane while polishing the floors between coats. This will both protect your beautiful hardwood floors as well as provide a stunning finish. We aim to complete the entire job from start to finish within three days. Our highly durable end product will leave your floors unrecognizable and be sure to increase the value of your home.
If your floors are in good condition, but you wish to remove scratches and blemishes, a refresh may be a better option. This consists of a deep cleaning, followed by polishing the surface polyurethane before applying a topcoat of polyurethane. This option is faster and less expensive but will not produce the same results as full restoration. Further, factory finished floors cannot be refreshed. It's best to seek advice from one of our professionals.
We repair hardwood floors. If a plank is damaged, we can replace it without having to touch the remainder of the floor. This service is fast, causes minimal disruption, and can prevent the need to perform a full restoration.
Like with anything else in your home, hardwood floors require maintenance and care, and we will be happy to help in this regard.
Although we specialize in hardwood floor refinishing and restoration, we also offer installation service. Hardwood floors increase the value of a home, are durable, and can be refinished as to last a lifetime.
Although we appreciate the natural look of wood and our founder stands firmly behind the beauty and life that remains in refinished floors, we can add color by applying stains or sealers that can enhance the colour of the wood. Recently, our most popular and requested colour is whitewash, which preserves the natural look of wood but the lighter tone makes it look more modern.
All hardwood floors can be refinished and made to look new. Some composite floors can be refinished, but this needs to be assessed for each site.
We only use water-based polyurethane. Just as strong as oil-based, water-based products are eco-friendly and do not produce the gas chemicals caused by oil-based products which are harmful to humans and the environment.
All of our staff are bilingual and happy to serve you in the official language of your choice.
We pride ourselves in customer service. For this reason, we will provide the same valued service regardless of the size of the job.
Our trained professionals will be happy to meet with you and discuss your personal requirements.
Our price for value will be unmatched. The increase in home value alone makes restoration well worth the investment.
Jean-Bernard, our founder, is a French Acadian from New-Brunswick who has over 42 years of hardwood floor installation and restoration experience. Taking much pride in his work, he personally guarantees you will be pleased with your new floors.
Adam learned to install and repair hardwood floors at the age of 12 under the tutelage of his father, Jean-Bernard. Now 36 years old, restoring hardwood is in Adam's DNA. He loves bringing new life to old floors. Recently moving to the Ottawa region, Adam has brought generational hardwood floor experience to Orléans.
The floors first need to be sanded to a smooth finish.
Using our Hummel machine, Adam is sanding the varnish and stain off the floors. The floors will require additional sanding with finer grit paper to bring the floors to a soft and even finish. Once we're done sanding, the floors are smooth with all scratches and damage removed.
With the floors sanded, Jean-Bernard and Adam are applying a coat of Bona Nordic tinted sealer. We apply two coats of sealer followed by two coats of finish. Once all 4x coats have been applied, the floors will have a durable and beautiful long lasting finish.

Yes! Our sanders are nearly dust free, and our quality varnishes are breathable and non-toxic. You can walk on the floors just two hours after each coat of polyurethane.
It depends. A full restoration job will take approximately two to three days; however, if your flooring is already in good condition and only has surface scratches or scuffs, a full restoration may not be required which will save time. The timeline will be fully discussed during your consultation with our experienced staff.
No! While having the baseboards removed will make our work easier, our precise equipment is capable of working around most baseboards. The finished product will look the same. On request, we can remove and replace the baseboards.
When we sand down the hardwood, the floors will take its natural wood color, which most find very appealing. If a different look is wanted, we can stain the floors with a variety of colors. Finally, our environmentally friendly Bona certified water-based polyurethane (sealer and finish) can provide a nice, polished shine.
We are strong believers in water-based polyurethane. With advances in technology, water-based products are now just as strong as oil-based. In addition, water-based products are eco-friendly and do not produce the gas chemicals caused by oil-based products which are harmful to humans and the environment. Finally, water-based products dry much faster, allowing us to complete the job quicker.
